Team Fortress 2
Counter-Strike Source
Counter-Strike 2Replace your scoped jumping with proper use of objects and you'll be fine, fellas.
I don't understand why there is such a stigma around shooting second to be honest. We're all guilty of doing it at one point or another. If I shoot at you first and miss, and then I pay for it with a death, that's my own fault. Where was I positioned when I missed the first shot? Was I out in the open? Was I standing still or even displaying the slightest attempt to protect myself with the use of strafing behind objects that I've consciously kept close by?
I've personally never had a problem with someone shooting second (deliberately or otherwise). Furthermore, the day you find me complaining about someone doing so to help me justify my own death is the day I leave TF2.
Hey I get it. Valve has taken away something that a lot of players utilized in their sniping game to help them be effective. It definitely makes it difficult when something you rely on is instantly stripped away from you.
I've never incorporated, or felt the need to incorporate, jumping after shooting into my sniping technique in order to be effective. Now, speaking pre-patch, I've shot first many times and, while I get a kill a lot of those times, I miss a lot of those shots as well. I guess that point that I'm trying to stress is that, out of the shots I've missed, a lot of the time it has not resulted in certain death for me. Consequently, from my perspective, the game hasn't changed.
There are definitely other ways to be a great sniper which don't require jumping after shooting. I know you (and many others) feel otherwise because that's a core element that has been removed from your style. Nevertheless, I find that if you learn to twitch-shot while using all objects properly to your advantage , you won't miss jumping at all.
Also, I think it would be interesting to actually set up a challenge like the one you've suggested. I think people would be surprised at the outcome and would probably realize it's not the end of the world. Ultimately I don't feel that (with this patch) shooting first is an automatic death sentence if you miss.
People who jumps after a shot to cover are usually not even good, becuse many jumps to cover, but, jumping BEFORE a shot is not a style, is a way to aim. J.D. and I and many other snipers, most of them are to on top competitive divisions. That include svs, jump BEFORE a shot. Now i can still do it, but is more a faith shot that a skill one, becuse i know that if a fail there are people strafing and dancing all day long waiting for a counter shot, they know that cannot beat us by 1st shots. I know you dope that you are really good, and you 1st shot, not becuse i shot faster then you and fail and than you kill me means you 2nd scope; the problem here is that NO one is going for a 1st shot now, they dance & hide & wait only to get a counter-body-corner-camping shot. Thats the problem. Even that i quited tf2, i returned just a few weekends to see this new gameplay.
