Name (Nickname is also acceptable):
appleman555 or apple.
Age:
21 (6.623E8 seconds)
I can buy alcohol for Sz events.
What are your personal interests or hobbies?
I am a physics/astronomy student. My interests include math, physics, observational astronomy, science outreach, and the Oxford comma.
Outside of academics, I am a volleyball player, a soccer goalie, and a basketball player. I don't bowl though. I think bowling is for bad people.
I am a huge classical music fan, especially the works of Chopin, Rach, and Schumann.
I am an avid reader who enjoys classic American literature (All the books you skipped in high school), science fiction, and satire. I like to petting dogs, scaring young children, and disappointing my parents.
I also enjoy long walks on the beach.
How did you come across the Snipezilla server?
I’ve been in the SvS community for some time, even before Sz appeared. After ADK, NSA, MS, GA servers shut their doors, Sz become the most popular SvS server. I packed my bags, sold my furniture, and moved to Sz.
Why do you want to become an admin? (Motivation)
TF2 was a big part of my puberty growing up. My first gaming experiences, online friends, clans, first time I [censored] [censored] squishy squishy [censored], all involved SvS in some way.
I hope others will experience all...err some of the things I did.
As a player, I'm relatively calm and pose little emotional or physical danger to those around me. The whole point of the server is to have fun.
I love saying weird shit and rustling jimmies, but I am never toxic and I don't take myself too seriously.
Mic spam, text spam, trolling are all forms of fun; however, there are certainly limits to these activities. I know the balance between having fun and being a nuisance. (I've been both over the years)
Of course, as an admin one would need to be more responsible with others feelings and input. I am sure my maturity will appear when needed.
As a sniper, I can hold my own against most players. [Citation needed]
I have over 43,000 points and meet the requirements for admin request.
I've had plenty of experiences with hackers and aimbots and my discretion/observations are generally reliable. I am familiar with most exploits and tricks players can use.
I am pretty active now, and have encountered hackers which required me to contact an admin. If I were to be an admin, the process would be shorter and more efficient.
But that's not the important thing, there are plenty of admins to do that stuff. My main motivation is quite different.
Sometimes I take trips down memory lane and go on the SLV3 page to see all the old players of the past. Most of these players have gone onto greener pastures.
I see players that most people have forgotten such as MountainDew, Jimmy, Chip, KiD, sadFace, cold_iron, Serious, Tuneslave, et al. and I'm can't help but feel nostalgic.
But hey, new players will replace those that have left. The circle of life continues. The birds and the bees unite. The bun goes in the oven, or the oven is turned on. Something like that. (I don't really understand the order of events.)
Anyways...
For me, the biggest advantage of an admin is the influence. I hope to use expand the SvS community.
So far, I have introduced new players to SvS and some have stayed. I am never hesitant to help out new players. After all, everyone was as beginner at one moment in time.
My biggest goal is to expand the community. I want more people to experience the frustration, excitement, and dedication I've lived through as well. I hope to help more players join and create a close knit community that espouses honor, respect, and commitment. hehe
And to those who have played for years and still remain, I understand the reasons why you stayed; whatever that reason is I hope that new players will find those reason too.
The part I enjoy most about Snipezilla is how active and self-contained it is. At any given moment I can log on and play/have a conversation with players old and new.
In addition, the leaders of Sz are of good moral fiber. Strong policies, good ideas, and reasonable rules all contribute to the longevity of the community.
In short, my heart still belongs to the SvS community. After all these years, I hope I can make player experiences more enjoyable. Sz is the most active and stable sniper server today. I've been playing for a long time and out of all the communities that exist, I find the players who choose SvS to be his/her niche in Tf2's mad world to be some of the most skilled, friendly, and unique people I've had the pleasure of meeting.
Admin or not, I'm just glad that the SvS community still exists. As in admin, I hope to not only uphold the quality of the community, but also to expand it.
I would like thank Sz for reading my ramblings and giving me the opportunity to apply.
What do you most enjoy about Snipezilla?
